Q. WHERE IS MIROPARK ?

A.  5 Park Avenue, Ohakune. Here is a link to the map http://g.co/maps/9yhnw   Miropark is in the heart of Ohakune. (not one of the outlying towns like rangataua which dosn’t have any shops or restaurants. ) Miropark is only a 2 minute walk to “the junction” , which is the local name for the area of town that has the bars and restaurants. Its also the end of town closest to the mountain and ski area. There is a supermarket, a petrol station, banks, and several shops within a 2 minute drive from miropark.

 

Q. How far is it from MIROPARK to the ski fields ?

A. You cant get any closer !! Within 1 km you are driving up “the mountain road” which is the road that leads from Ohakune township to the MT RUAPEHU ski field of Turoa. The only place that road goes is up. heres a link to see MIROPARK’S location on googlemaps. http://goo.gl/maps/QWpB2  

Q. Can I drive up to the ski field myself ?

A. YES. most of the year including the ski season you can drive from miropark right to the ski field, Sometimes the roads are closed if theres a lot of snow on the road, and Sometimes they only allow vehicles with 4 wheel drive or chains on their tyres. If chains are required then there is a stop along the way up to the ski area, where the mountain staff will put chains on your car for you and take them off for you when you come back down. They charge a fee for hiring the chains.

Q.  Can i get someone else to drive me up to the ski area ?

A. Yes. there are shuttle services which will pick you up from Miropark and take you right to the chairlifts on the ski field. They’ll bring you back home when you’ve finished skiing as well. They charge a fee for the ride. They can be booked on the day and the contact details are in your miropark house.

Q. IS THERE A SPA POOL FOR ME AT MIROPARK ?

A. YES there is your own spa pool on your deck to use, and ill make sure its hot when you turn up. Just awesome for relaxing your muscles after a day playing on the mountain.  Each house has its own spa.

Q. Is linen provided ?

A. YES, for your convenience all the beds are made up with linen and duvets, pillows have slips on them and towels are provided as well. we don’t have a “bring your own linen” option as people will often forget and we like to be sure the mattresses and duvets are not slept on without linen.

Q. WHERE DO I GET THE KEYS FROM FOR MIROPARK ?

A. EVERY GUEST IS ASKED TO CALL ME WHEN THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY HERE SO I CAN TURN ON THE HEATERS SO THE HOUSE IS NICE AND WARM FOR WHEN THEY ARRIVE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO ARRIVE BEFORE 9 PM WE WILL MEET YOU AT MIROPARK AND GIVE YOU THE KEYS AND SHOW YOU AROUND THE HOUSE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO ARRIVE AFTER 9 PM PLEASE PHONE ME AT 8PM AND I WILL LEAVE THE KEY IN A CODED LOCKBOX FOR YOU.

Q. IS THERE A PORTACOT AND HIGH CHAIR AT MIROPARK ?

A. YES  and theres also a small baby sized mattress as well. Please let me know at the time of your booking that you would like these to be put inside your house before you turn up. There is no extra charge for these.

Q. ARE THE HOUSES WARM  ?

A. Theres none warmer !!! Having just been built to the highest spec, they have sound proof insulation in the walls, and 3 times the required thickness insulation in the ceiling !! They have a push button gas fire which warms the house up beautifully. They have double glazing, and to top it all off a DVS air purification system which distributes the warm clean air around the entire house. So you wont find a warmer house in town.  The gas fire is great as theres no messy firewood and no soot in the air.

 

Q. IS THERE WIFI AT MIROPARK ?

A. YES  We have installed a “ZENBU” wifi system which allows you to do things like check emails, the weather report, Trademe, and update your Facebook while you are here. I like to give everyone a free $10 voucher per day which is usually plenty but if you like to use a lot of internet you can purchase more vouchers through the “zenbu” portal online while you are here. Its not Ideal to download movies or any big applications like that.

Q. IS THERE A DRYING ROOM AT MIROPARK ?

A. YES. downstairs in your house, and its huge !!  you can hang all of your ski gear up and let the timer controlled room do all the work while you are sleeping.

Q. IS THERE A WASHING MACHINE IN THE HOUSE ?

A. YES your house has a laundry inside with bosch washing machine, drier , and an iron.

Q. IS THERE SKY TV AT MIROPARK ?

A. NO theres no sky tv unless you bring your own decoder.  There is a huge 50 Inch tv set with dvd player and FREEVIEW. If you need to watch the “big Game” then grab your mates and stroll 2 minutes to the local junction bars.

Q. IS THERE SOMEWHERE NEARBY I CAN HIRE SKI GEAR FROM ?

A. YES. there are several ski hire places very close to miropark. I recommend SLR ski hire as they have great gear and advice at the best prices in town. You can also check out their awesome climbing wall while you’re there picking up your gear. Q. WHERE SHOULD WE GO FOR A DRINK OR DINNER ?

A. You can walk to a lot of good bars and restaurants from miropark,  Including the “Powderkeg”, “Turoa Lodge”, the “Itallian Pizza shop”,  and my favourite  “THE SUITCASE” bar and restaurant which has a great menu, and service and big screen entertainment. you can check them out here.  http://www.thesuitcase.co.nz

 

Q.  WHAT DO I NEED TO DO WHEN I ARRIVE ?

A. Be sure to phone me when you are on your way here, about an hour or so before you want to move in and ill go and turn the heaters on and meet you at the house to give you the keys when you arrive.

Q. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERES A PROBLEM DURING MY STAY ?

A. Call me on 021724567 anytime during your stay. I live nearby and am here to make sure you dont have any problems so let me know if i can help.

 

Q. WHAT IF I BREAK SOMETHING DURING MY STAY /

A. Accidents do happen. Just let me know early so I can repair or replace it for the next guests. We ask you to pay for any damage you cause just as you would expect.

Q. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN STAY

A. At miropark we take your safety and comfort seriously. No more then 10 people can stay in one house at any time, this includes children of any age. Theres only bedding, crockery and comfortable room for 10 people.  If you have a larger group why not hire 2 houses next to each other and share the houses among the group. There are 4  miropark houses in total so 40 people can stay at one time if you want.

Q. I SAW ON A WEBSITE THE DATES I WANT TO STAY ARE AVAILABLE .

A. We allow people a couple of days to confirm their booking by paying a deposit via internet banking. Some banks take a day or two to process the payment especially on the weekends, so even though the dates look available someone might already have a “hold” on those dates waiting for their payment to clear. The sure way to find out is fill in the “booking request” page at the top right side of this website, ill get right back to you with a quote for the available dates.

Q. HOW LONG BEFORE I GET A REPLY FROM MIROPARK ABOUT MY ENQUIRY ?

A. I attend to the emails every day and am often available for an immediate reply, if you need to contact me urgently phone 021 724567
